Ironton In southern Ohio far from the big city crap Is a place called Ironton more than just a small town on the map A place I call home even though Ive lived afar Its always home no matter where you are DMI was the big employer Ironton Iron and Allied Signal was right next door Industry has all but dried up and blown away But Its proud traditions stand to this day Ill name a few just to help jog your memory for those of you who are getting old just like me The shake shoppe that used to be on 3rd st burned Its Now in the L&Js Building If you were concerned Auger Inn for beer and uchre was the place to go Its still there with Wanda and Larry dont ya know Of course Ironton football and coach Bob Lutz Every week of fall we still root Who can forget Sedgwick Meadows and Green Valley They drew a huge distinction but only separated by an alley From the Hardware stores that wore the family name The Triplets Hackers and Sheridans grew fame Modern Home Improvement and the hieronimi get special mention Its my poem so I can bring it to your attention Tiptons bakery was always a treat the eclair a gastric abomination Weber bros florist always there to celebrate every occasion Lake Vesuvius was always great fun Watching Gus throw the frisbee and Jackson would run Pat Boggs climbing the furnace just to shoot the moon Was neither a surprise nor a worry Both Gus and Pat are gone too soon Lawrence County General the only hospital to mention I was born there maybe that explains their bad fortune Sheriff Howell was there his name still makes me frown He was king till Dan came to town To not mention Andersons Pub Kresgies or Edelsons Id be amiss Im sure you all could add to this list Friends I grew up with some still there and some ovem arent and... There no place like home when you are from Arnton
