“Is that Lee*?” asked my colleague from a for profit personal care home. I was pleased and proud to reply “Yes, it is.” Lee joined the House of Care family four years ago. He was transferred from another facility and was facing significant health challenges including dialysis treatments three days a week and depleted financial resources. My colleague couldn’t imagine that Lee could still be alive considering the state of his health when he transferred to the House of Care. Lee demonstrates what is so special about the House of Care. We offer high touch, high quality and highly individualized care to our residents who have a range of health and mental issues that require assistance with the daily activities of life. We provide our residents with services such as meal preparation, medication administration, medical oversight, laundry, cleaning services and so much more. We provide a home, a family, and the peace of mind that once you pass through our doors you have a home for life. We work hard to make the House of Care a place of joy, comfort, and laughter—creating a home-like environment where our residents thrive. We are asking you to help us continue to provide this care. It cost about $100 a day per resident to operate the House of Care. Our residents, due to their extremely limited financial resources, are only able to contribute 30% of this fee and the House of Care absorbs the rest of these costs. Will you consider becoming a House of Care supporter by making a gift to this year’s annual fund? Your gift, in its entirety, will be used to provide a home for the residents of the House of Care. We are pleased to share that generous donors Bruce and Jean Anthony have agreed to match all gifts dollar for dollar up to $10,000 as part the Linda Anthony Open Door Gift Challenge.
