Isnt This Place an Inn? The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu - TopicsExpress

Isnt This Place an Inn? The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “Be in this world as if you were a stranger or a traveler.” [Bukhari] We are like travelers during this life on earth. A traveler has a final destination that he/she is eager to reach. This life is not our final destination. We are told not to lose sight of the temporary nature of this life, and to use it to make preparations for the next life. The king asked: Who are you? what do you do for a living? I am suspicious of the way you behave... The mysterious man replied: I am a weak, jobless and homeless man. Where I lay my head I call that place home. Currently I am to be your guest. The king flew into a rage saying that he was not an innkeeper and that his palace was neither a caravansary nor an inn. The man asked again: Isnt this place an inn? This is the palace of the king! Who lived here before you? My father. Before him, who lived here then? My grandfather and great grandfathers, naturally... If such a place where men come and go is not called an inn, then what really is this place? The king froze in his place and had nothing to say. The world is an inn, where one rests for a short while and prepare oneself for ones permanent residence.
