Israel launches Protective Edge to halt rocket fire At this moment, the Israel Defence Forces are targeting the Hamas terrorists in Gaza that have in the last few days fired hundreds of rockets at Israel. These rockets have travelled deeper and deeper into the country, with more and more civilians threatened by these indiscriminate attacks. Prime Minister Netanyahu offered ‘quiet for quiet’ – instead, Hamas has responded with war crimes. The ZF backs Israel unequivocally at this time: ‘We strongly support Israel at this time, as it attempts to bring an end to the blitzkrieg of rockets that have been launched at its citizens. Any actions Israel takes will be a defensive response to this act of war by Hamas. We hope that it will be possible to quash the terrorists without the necessity for a ground invasion, which would greatly increase the risk to Israeli soldiers. Nonetheless if the Israeli government deems this is necessary, we offer them our full support, safe in the knowledge that they will do the best they can to protect innocent life on both sides.’ Prime Minister David Cameron has also offered his support: The Prime Minister strongly condemned the appalling attacks being carried out by Hamas against Israeli civilians. The Prime Minister reiterated the UK’s staunch support for Israel in the face of such attacks, and underlined Israel’s right to defend itself from them.
