It’s possible I’m getting old!? Today I saw that my aquarium schedule called for me to do the 12 o’clock Penguin talk which is right after I feed and clean their little hutches. As I turned the corner to see my audience, I saw about 100+ five and six year old campers with their teenage camp counselors seated in the little arena in front of the penguin exhibit, with another 20 or so standing. I admit I’m a bit of a ham and I love an audience, but I wasn’t prepared for how adorable these kids were. As soon as I turned on my mic and began speaking they quieted and listened. They listened!!! They answered all MY silly questions and riddles, but what really impressed me was how smart THEIR questions were. These little ones made me feel that nothing in the world is as fascinating as penguins! And maybe that’s true.
