It doesnt matter whether you love the President to death or Not, - TopicsExpress

It doesnt matter whether you love the President to death or Not, whether you are pro Jubilee or Cord, we should all stand up and oppose that Draconian bill. Your favorite President will leave in the next 7 years, you are not even sure what kind of a leader will succeed him. The rights you surrendered to your favorite government will be assumed by your not so favorite one. And will use the same harsh laws against you and your saviours. We have fought for this space for years, we should not surrender it to the state because it will never be returned. 1982 Coup gave the state an excuse to trample on civil rights in the guise of fighting dissidents. What followed was a restricted space, with the Political establishment taking advantage to extend its hold to power by targeting perceived political rivals and crushing their testicles at government sanctioned torture chambers at Nyayo and Nyati Houses. Insecurity in Kenya is not caused by lack of this bill. Its caused by lack of political will. Its also caused by lack of coordination among security agencies. Its caused by lethargy among the security arms. Even lack of executive will to rein on insecurity. UHURU himself had the audacity of appointing a chef as Security Cabinet secretary, and getting shocked when he couldnt perform, with a Hundreds of lost Kenyan lives as proof of chefs gross incompetence. The solution to insecurity is not stifling Kenyan basic rights through harsh laws. Its through addressing CORRUPTION! We should come up with an Anti-corruption legislation that is as ferocious as this #Securitybill. A legislation that considers corruption suspects guilty, just like this bill seek to assume all suspects as guilty unless proven otherwise. Our borders are porous because of corruption. Terrorists bribe their way into Kenya, do their thing and stroll leisurely back. Corruption has directly killed more Kenyans than terrorism. We lose over 200 Billion annually through corruption. Imagine how many medicines and food rations that can buy. But it cant be fought because its practiced by more important Kenyans. There have been a litany of mega corruption, yet we dont see serious laws being drafted to curb this national eyesore. Yet, you are all applauding when the government comes with cosmetic bills that take your basic rights in exchange of nothing! I see a generation that wastes itself on the streets seeking for a forth liberation for rights they once they excitedly surrendered to their once favorite government!!;
