It has been quite some time since I have been able to be around horses. Chronic illnesses forced me to move away from the farm I was working on a few years ago and, though I have finally begun to get my medical issues under control, I havent been able to get back into horses. I miss it more than anything in the world. Do any of you have suggestions on getting back into the horse world without actually owning a horse? I recently moved to Raleigh, NC and, as much as I would love to, we cannot afford to own a horse right now. I would be overjoyed to have a chance to be around horses though. I have extensive riding experience, but even being able to groom or sit by a pasture for awhile would be amazing. As for experience... I have quite a bit of experience getting horses off the track, rehabbing them, and preparing them for new careers. Ive started eventers, dressage horses, hunters, and foxhunters. I taught lessons for awhile. And, closest to my heart, are the abuse cases Ive worked with. My own personal gelding was slaughter bound before I was able to get him. He was a mess and for years I was the only one who could do anything with him. He will forever be the love of my life. Pictured is my last ride in Minnesota. :)
