It is Channel 4 News policy not to show these cartoons, said Alex - TopicsExpress

It is Channel 4 News policy not to show these cartoons, said Alex Thomson this evening. There might have been a hint of rebellion against that policy in his tone, or that might have been wishful thinking on my part. But here is Christopher Hitchens struggling to come up with a notional analogue for this epidemic of journalistic pusillanimity (the wider point hes making kicks off at about 29:45): ... I cant really think of a parallel... I mean, they would say: Well, Picassos gone too far with Guernica - you know, hes taken an obviously propagandistic attitude towards the Spanish Civil War. Theres a huge row about this painting - youd be very interested to know more about it, but unfortunately we cant show you what it looks like, because that would be inviting reprisal from Franco, or something... (And if this insight doesnt make you angry, try this: https://youtube/watch?v=LZZ96SArpuc&feature=youtu.be.) Can any journalists out there explain why theyre not more angry about this? Or what the rationale for it is, if Hitchens is misrepresenting it here?
