It is great sadness that we announce the passing of a retired member of the Mundelein Fire Department Richard A. Rollins (June 18, 1926 - April 30, 2014) Funeral service for Richard A. Rollins 87 is 10 AM. Saturday at the Kristan Funeral Home P.C., 219 West Maple Ave. (2 blocks west of Rt. 45 on Rt. 176) Mundelein. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Arlington Heights. Visitation is Friday from 4-8 PM. He was born June 18, 1926 in Chicago and died Wednesday April 30, 2014 at Silverado in Lake Zurich. Richard was a Navy veteran of WW II. He was a Tool & Die maker for over 40 years. He concluded his career with 12 patents to his credit for Baxter Lab. He was also a volunteer for the Mundelein Fire Department for 25 years and was an avid bridge player and enjoyed traveling. He is survived by his children Rick (Laurel) Rollins, Nancy (Jack) Techel, Jim (Kim) Rollins, his grandchildren Bryan (Katie) Techel, Jimmy (Katie) Rollins, Jaclyn (Joey) Jefferson, Jeremy Rollins Adam Rollins, Melanie Rollins, Victoria Rollins, great grandchildren Samantha and Hunter Techel, his companion Dee Costello and her son Patrick. He was preceded in death by his wife Harriett and his brother James. In lieu of flowers memorials to the Mundelein Fire Department 1000 N. Midlothian Rd. Mundelein, IL. 60060.
