It is heartening to see that the government wants to include a chapter on gender equality in schools. They need to begin by redefining the traditional patriarchal constructs of masculinity and femininity for young minds. A number of NGOs have developed fantastic training materials addressing these issues and the government must draw on the best from this resource pool to develop the chapter and teach it in an interactive manner to ensure that the learning is effective.
