It is in sadness that I admit that Ryan and were not particularly close in the time that we shared in Sigma Phi Epsilon, but every encounter with him was one that I enjoyed. Whether it was hearing a Marcia Smash story, laughing when he returned from spring break redder than a tomato, or watching in jealousy every time he walked (will anyone ever look cooler crossing a room?), you couldnt help but chuckle when Ryan was around. One place that we did connect was the intramural field. The first intramural sport I ever played in SigEp was softball freshman year - Ryan, of course, was a mainstay on the team. He and I shared the field many times and I loved watching him excel every time we were out there. Tonight, I played in a intramural softball game with my grad school cohort. Humbly, I wanted to help contribute to his memory by bringing him back onto the field. With my SigEp letters emblazoned across my chest and Marcia written on the inside of my left arm, Ryan and I took the field. Although we could not pull out the victory, Ryan helped me hit two homeruns tonight - and I couldnt help but feel the lift of angels wings as I flew around the bases. It was very surreal. Im glad I got to share in another intramural memory with you, good sir. You will be greatly missed, my brother. Thank you for shining your light on us in your time here on Earth. Save a spot for me in left field when we meet again. _ _ _
