It is still so fresh in my heart, the death of our brother and friend, Dr. Myles Monroe. As I consider what makes him uniquely special in the world of men it has been difficult to articulate. Here is a man studious, curious, insightful & articulate. Educated, but also an academic. A professor and also a visionary in the field of education. Some men teach ideas but Dr. Myles demonstrated them and inspired others to do so with great effectiveness. Dr. Myles was anointed with a revelation of the Kingdom of God that was so complete that it surpasses virtually anything you can find on the subject. When his book Rediscovering the Kingdom was first published, it was sold out twice before it was ever released. But that was not all God gave him. He trained over 500,000 people each year on personal and leadership development. He taught mankind how to understand their identity and purpose. His techniques were not only used by Christians, but he was the frequent host of presidents, prime ministers, and dignitaries from the world over. In a word, Dr. Myles Monroe was Joseph. He didn’t just preach to the nations, but he influenced them with the power of God in a way this world has rarely seen. How many preachers do you know that have received the Congressional Medal of Honor for developing leaders in emerging nations? Dr. Monroe said “I exist to transform followers into leaders” and that’s exactly what he did the world over. He was more than just a mind, more than just an anointing, he was a transformative force. He moved the Bohemian people forward with grace and vision. He is the most revered minister in the Bahamas. He was a statesman and a class act. If only America had a Dr. Myles Monroe. IF we had someone who could enter the political landscape of our nation and get our congress moving and confront our White House to walk holy and in integrity. It was not that Dr. Myles wrote 70 books. It’s not that he had a private jet and fancy cars. His greatness was not in his business prowess or his full congregation. Here is a man who gave himself tirelessly to heal and develop Heads of State. This man changed nations when many of us struggle to shift our block towards Christ. In his final act, his death, he highlights his last message. He died heading to a conference to help wrangle the control of the Bahamas from old men and to influence them to pass the baton to young lions. His absence speaks volumes to the world. It’s time for a paradigm shift. It is time for emerging anointings to rise up and take their place alongside those who are established so that God can carry his vision to the next generation. Let us pray for His children, his church and the nation of the Bahamas. Dr. Myles Monroe held together that nation. We must be vigilant so that marauding forces do not gain a foothold in their land. These were my thoughts this morning. God Bless the Monroe’s and the Kingdom.
