It is with great sadness that I report that my dear friend, and WC Fields son, William Rexford Fields Morris, passed away Friday night, November 28th, at 97 years old. Bill had been having trouble with his foot and was taken to Caromont Health (Gaston Memorial Hospital) on Sunday, November 22nd with a high fever. He was given excellent care by the staff there but nothing they tried made him better. He was ready to go and asked his family Cant you let me go? The last few days were a struggle for him but his family was able to stay with him and one of his sons and both of his daughters were able to be with him as he peacefully passed. His other son was too sick to travel but was able to talk to Bill before he died. Bill was a dear friend of mine. He was able to attend a couple of our Family Vaudeville Extravaganza shows, as well as a Fettucini Brothers performance. We always invited him backstage to the Green Room to dine with us pre-show, and would tell the audience who he was and introduce him from the stage. He would stand and get a nice round of applause. He always seemed to enjoy those moments. I am glad that I was able to get to know and be good friends with such a rare and classy gentleman. I miss you already Dear Friend. RIP, Bill.
