It occurs to me that I am in some way supposed to apologize for my life and beliefs. I will not. In my years on this earth I have successfully raised four children to be strong and brilliant people; I have shown care and consideration not only to those around me but to any and every person who has needed my aid emotionally or financially. I have shown charity, acceptance and fairness to any whatever their beliefs, race, religion or condition. I have fed anyone before myself, clothed anyone before myself and never asked for repayment in any form for my labors. My mind has never been closed; my doors have always been open. I have made bad decisions and have been rebuked and damaged for them, but I have never given in to the fault of self interest. My mind has continued to grow and my principles evolve as the world changes, not looking ever inwards in an act of self protectionism or bigotry. Morality has never been something I have held up like a shining light to blind, ethics have been practical and motivational, not fetters to chain or confuse. Perhaps my sins are great but I wear them honestly and use them to try and advance a crumbling society rather than risk nothing and walk with eyes closed. If I am guilty of anything it is of thinking, of postulating, of intellectually tasting anything and everything that is on life’s menu. For that I cannot apologize, to do less would be to ignore the very essence that makes me human and worthy of my next breathe. Before criticizing anything first take stock of your own actions and question if they advanced anything but your own existence one centimeter. If all of this makes me a pariah then I am content with the sentence of you all. I have never given up trying when it was possible for me to do so, I am yet to be convinced that anything I have accomplished has bought me anything but pain and suffering.
