It was about this time of year. Almost 20yrs ago. We traveled miles. My parents. My little Bro. And me. To Hartland New Brunswick. Looking forward to a family vacay. We had to drop quail eggs off. To be incubated. My cuz. My brother. And I. We piled into a tiny car. And our lives changed forever. She broke her back. My brother had some nasty external injuries. And I suffered massive internal ones. Our vacation was not what we planned or expected. One week. Turned into more as we recovered. People rallied. And prayed. The car was totaled. No one should have lived. On the day we were meant to return. The day we left New Brunswick. I begged to go visit her. She was on a different floor. Anger never crossed my mind. It was never in my radar. I need to see my cousin I said. I wheeled to her floor. She was so sick. She smiled. And I asked if she would like her hair brushed. She said yes. And I did. Tonight we made new memories. Fur babies played. 3rd cousins connected. We went for a drive. Ate pizza and giggled. Almost 20yrs. Nothing changed. Love remains. Blessed and Grateful.
