If you have outside plans such as the Illinois State Fair, let me get you up to speed on the latest forecast thinking. 3 Things You Want To Know: 1) FOR YOUR EVENING PLANS: ☁ ☂ Your early evening outdoor plans will have the threat of at least spotty rain, possibly a thunderstorm. Late evening, after 10pm, is the more likely period to see heavy rain develop. BUT KEEP IN MIND, the atmosphere is loaded with 2 inches of possible rain up in it just waiting for a trigger to make it fall. While you have a chance to avoid significant rain early this evening, know the sky wants to rain on you, so be ready. 2) HEAVY RAIN POTENTIAL: ☁ ☂ The BEST rain chance tonight is late and maybe just after midnight. As I said, there is a ton of moisture in the atmosphere. Parts of northern Missouri saw 4-5 inches last night. Im watching the rain in NE Missouri right now as it slowly spins our way. The Weather Prediction Center puts us in a slight risk for excessive rainfall and possible flash flooding, which is 2.8 to 3 in just 3 hours. If it becomes likely, a Flash Flood Watch will be issued. 3) RAIN CHANCES SUNDAY: ☁ ☂ Rain chances continue tomorrow but will be more likely east of a Decatur to Taylorville line, especially as evening approaches.
