Its a bit unfair of the media to keep harping about the last innings of the great Sacchin Tendulkar .Personally ,i think he should have retired in 2011 after we won the world cup .After that he struggled to come to terms with his aging reflexes .A magnificent extra cover drive which was his last stroke gave a rare glimpse of what was his staple diet in his halycon days.I had watched his first innings against Pakistan and then practically every other innings of his subsequentally. And he was always a source of great joy to a die hard cricket addict like me .But i stopped watching him when he struggled -it was too painful .However ,what we missed going overboard about was the curtain falling on my favourite cricketer -Rahul Dravid .He epitomizes the game which was called "a gentlemans game".A wonderful batsman ,and a wonderful human being.I had the privilege of sharing the stage with at Jaipur (a photograph is there in one of my albums on FB).And add to that those looks of his !!Unbeatable sportsman .The wall was finally breached yesterday .!!In many ways ,it signals the end of a era of the way cricket was played .Its the passing of one era into another .People like Sacchin and Rahul were exceptional in that they transited from one era to another with ease and greatness .And did brilliantly in both forms of the game .And as a diversion -watch out for this guy Samsun .He has amazing hand eye coordination .He is the future star -the Ranbir Kapoor of cricket taking over from the Shah Rukh Khans and the Amitabh Bacchans .He is clearly a cut above the rest .!!
