Its a love story, really. Tims best friend, Rod, died the day we were remarried in 2010. Thats sad. We found out this Thanksgiving Day that Rods wife, Nancy, was in the hospital undergoing radiation for a recurrence of breast cancer and additional brain cancer. Thats sad, too. Nancys brother called on Saturday, saying Nancy was in the hospital and would be moving to hospice very soon. Enough sad? He asked if we knew anyone would be willing to take Nancys (and Rods, too, technically) dogs as they were with her dad right now and hes 88 and having a hard time with them. Tim was icefishing with Joel - I called him and told him the story. He hesitated a moment and then, with his voice cracking just a little, Yes. Its the least we can do for Rod..and Nancy. So, Saturday afternoon, our family grew by two more furry friends - Ralphie and Simon. Ralphie has some health issues and Simon seems pretty energetic. Theyre wonderful dogs and were glad we can love them. Pretty nice, huh? Gotta love a good love story. (Ralphie is the brown/white dog. Simon is the black/white dog.)
