Its amazing how little things from our youth can come back to us - TopicsExpress

Its amazing how little things from our youth can come back to us in the most unexpected ways. I was on my way down to the Civic Center to get my ticket for tonights Virginia Tech Ice Hockey game against the West Virginia Mountaineers and found traffic on Orange Ave. moving slowly. So, I cut around the back way to avoid the snarl and as I was driving by Masons Mill Park, I noticed a mermaid sitting on the bank of Tinker Creek. She was warming herself next to a small fire. I guess the fish half of her could handle the cold water, while the woman part couldnt. Now, youd think that the first thing Id think seeing a mermaid for the first time in my life would be to wonder why shes so far from the sea. Nope. Immediately, that old commercial jingle popped into my head and I had to pull over and as her Whats the best tuna? Without hesitation, she replied, Bumble Bee chunk light tuna in oil. So, I dont know if Chicken of the Sea was just lying all those years ago, or if their sponsorship deal expired. I asked her, and she said that all that stuff was handled by the union. And anyway, she was just stating her personal opinion. She honestly never actually expected anyone to ask her that question. Leave it to me, and this Rube Goldberg contraption of a brain Ive got. Anyway, looking forward to the game tonight (Tech hockey games are generally lightly attended, and low stress for me). Afterwards, I might stop by Tinker Creek for a nightcap. Hope you remembered something that brought a smile to your face today, pumpkins, and that youve got something fun planned for this evening.
