Its been a memorable journey traveling through Nicaragua and Costa Rica surfing and playing music with my friend Alora Ashlie. I have met so many interesting people along the way. Just all kinds of travelers to local hotel and hostel help and some good hearted natives. I have sat on tree trunks at high tide with my feet in the water strumming my guitar with warm ocean winds in my face. I have shared songs in hand made driftwood huts, passed yerba matte gords with wise men, smoked kind green grown by Ryan the Lyon father with dreads reaching down to his feet. I have sat across a bloke named David from Whales who plays a hand made pelican feather flute and sang me old railroad hymns. I have surfed large and powerful energy draining beach breaks, hollow reef points at low tide and blown out high tide rain storms. Ive performed my songs for people as they listened to my stories. Ive eaten local fruits and dishes with vibrant flavors stayed in beautiful bungalows and run down abandoned buildings All along the way I have heeded the advice of my fellow travel partner Alora Ashlie as she is a wise traveler, always knows what day of the week it is and can do yoga poses while cooking a fine meal out of some scraps and singing gibberish. Today I arrived back in Los Pargos and the surf break Playa Negra. A wave which at low tide barrels on a shallow reef and can give you quite a licking if you are not on your game. This coming week will be my final week and the surf looks to be the biggest since my arrival. If the weather/wind is good is should be something magical. Please enjoy this little homemade video I put together with images from this years travels in both Central America and back home in Cali road tripping in my late 60s Dodge RV named Wesley and playing music with tons of talented friends. I have since sold Wesley but we had a good run doing a west coast tour with friends and living in an abandon ranch in Topanga Canyon The song featured in this little video is Honey Whiskey off the new album Beyond The Trestles which was just released out this month on my record label Soul Water Records. Creating a life around what you love to do is the way of the warrior. The warrior is the dreamer. Teach the children. most photos in this video credit Alora Ashlie and Jennifer Smucker youtu.be/Q6jeGkVDTmg
