Its been a whirlwind week. A fair bit crazy and surreal one if I may add. We baked a bountiful load of Happy Rainbow Cheesecakes for our orders, a feat that will not have been possible without the tireless efforts of my mom and the rest at home. It is because of this team effort, that we managed to churn out 18 beautiful cheesecakes with just 1 fridge and 1 oven. Those late nights and entire day of baking all paid off. I couldnt help but look back. It was meant to be a year of sabbatical after being in the photography business for 9 years. But somehow I stumbled into baking cakes since February this year. Never in my wildest dream will I ever think of picking up something self taught again (apart from photography) and turning it into a business. I am thankful for the journey I have very accidentally got myself on. Enjoying every moment of it and lighting up inside of me when I see friends or even strangers faces lit up when they collect or taste my bakes. We started humbly with whatever we have at home. 5 months down the road, we are still working with the very same logistics we have at home! Haha! I cannot be any more amazed by what we can do if we put our hearts and minds into it. I wish for it to stay this way. Just for a while longer. A little like my baby. Till today, still no business cards, websites or an official FB page haha! I love it just the way it is. I love being able to bake what I like, I love creating, I love packaging it the way I want, I love marketing the cakes myself, I love snapping photos the way I casually want them to be. I love every bit of what I am doing now. Yes, it gets physically tiring some days. Only a few will know. That because of limited storage, I have to get out every other day to get supplies. That can take a toll over time. But I always tell myself, I got to love what I am doing now, because when or if our cafe takes flight, it is going to be 10 folds worse. I take our home baking very seriously. Not only because I am sharing and putting my cakes out there for people to try them. But because only some will know, I am trying to inculcate the basic fundamentals in running this home cake front as a platform to our dreams of running a cafe in the near future. If we dont get it right now, then it will never be right when we spread our wings and fly. Bear with me. I am doing my best everyday. And for those who have been sticking around and sticking by me, to see me rise, grow, fall, climb back, hanging, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for caring for and supporting me. And to those whom I may have offended, got off on the wrong foot, or perhaps pissed off along the way, I thank you for making me that a little stronger in every way. I wish you the very best as we lead our seperate lives. I will also like to thank my partner for being there every step of the way for me, giving up our weekends so that I can bake for others, and making sure I am well fed and loved when I am tired. God bless. Lotsa Love, Dennis Pêtite Pâtisserie
