Its been awhile since Ive written a food review...this is a lengthy but honest one that will be sure to offend most. Today was the moment of truth: Is chipotle worth all the hype? I decided to take them up on their generous corporate offer that if I buy a tofu sofrita I can bring my receipt back and get a free menu item at a later date. I assumed the line would be out the door, perhaps it was earlier in the day but I only waited 7 mins a little after 4pm. $10 later I had my very own chicken burrito. Yup chicken, they were out of tofu... As I proceed down the condiments lane they made it a friendly point to remind me as they were holding the handle of the spoon that guacamole cost extra. I said ok. They proceeded to put the equivalent of 1/4 of a smashed avocado on my what would be burrito. Upon paying, they scribbled on my receipt and assured I would get a free menu item at a later date even though I didnt order the tofu sofrita. As soon as I got home I showered and got my pjs on and with much anticipation I sat down at the table and unraveled the foil to my still warm chicken burrito. Ill spare you the delicious details but lets just say I was willing to part with half of it, and let my brother in on the hype. All said and done, it was good dont get me wrong!!! Was it worth $10? No. The chicken was good but I bit into 2 gristly pieces. No bueno! The rest of it was decent. I could of bought my own .99 avocado and made guacamole for 5 burritos but hey not everyone is as frugal. I did however appreciate the fact that they still gave me the free burrito offer for my next purchase that will probably be my last. If you do the math, I will have got 2 burritos for $10, now thats a deal! Chipotle was expensive for no reason. Ill stick to the mom and pops joint Cali Burrito on Hamilton Blvd. Let the comments roll in...
