Its hard to know where to start. Its been quite a day. At the onset of this, I just have to say how fortunate we are to have such a solid group to work with at each department who are taking our communitys needs and safety so seriously. We had over 40 people representing city and county departments and our partners with the school board, Red Cross and National Guard in a planning meeting today. Everyone is on the same page and never strayed from the ultimate goal of making this weather event as smooth as possible. Im going to leave the weather reports to the professionals, so well skip that. Weve done all the preparing we can, but now we need your help. As the weather gets colder and the white stuff falls from the sky please heed our warnings and stay off the roads. If you must drive, know that it will be icy and dangerous. (I know that sounds silly that we even need to mention it, but trust me, inevitably we pull lots of people from ditches) Lows on Tuesday and Wednesday night will be in the low 20s, so if you have neighbors who are susceptible to the cold, please keep an eye on them. Finally, we cant be everywhere at once. If you see a circumstance that needs our attention, but isnt an emergency (roads blocked, iced bridges, limbs on power lines, etc) please call the police department (478-994-6022) or sheriffs office (478-994-7010). Well try to keep Facebook and Twitter updated as much as we can, but in the mean time, we hope you all stay safe and enjoy the snow!!
