Its ironic to me that we all know that none of us are perfect, yet - TopicsExpress

Its ironic to me that we all know that none of us are perfect, yet we expect perfection from others. I think we forget that Jesus was the only perfect One, and, Hes the only standard we should hold ourselves to. When we hold people to standards different than that, we start low and then when people meet our standards, we change them and frustrate each other. If we see Jesus as our Standard, we realize that we cant keep it and see our need to have Him in our lives, because God then sees us as perfect even though we cannot do it on our own. I think maybe we need to spend more effort pleasing God and less time and energy worrying about pleasing people. As I recently shared with someone, at the end of the day, none of the people in our lives determine our eternal destiny, thats between you and God. As many of you know, I would be considered a sports nut, but when I watch baseball, the best hitters only get a hit about 3 out of 10 times, thats sure not perfection. The best quarterbacks complete 60-70 percent of their passes, and thats not perfection. The best basketball players make about 40-50 percent of their shots, do you see what Im saying here? Yet we watch sports and expect perfection, we think our team should win every game. I know that in life, I dont do or get everything perfect, yet there are people who think that because Im in ministry that I should be perfect. Im not, I know it, and therefore, I rely totally on Jesus and His grace and mercy. Its part of what makes me want to get together with my Church Family and worship Him, to praise Him because He accepts me right where I am and is continually perfecting me. Have an Awesome Sunday!
