Its not often I post a serious status that isnt me just having a rant. But I beg you all, in absolute seriousness, read into this. And not just the people I know who keep up with stuff like this. Everyone. I encourage you all to look into the scrapping of the human rights act in this country....i should be able to leave it there (but alas, human awareness=not abundant) so ill elaborate. Hooray! Were not under the thumb of the oppressive European govt and the farce of the human rights act! wonderful, yes? Now we have no external oversight into how our country is governed and its populace treated. Now we get to draft up a brand new shiny wonderful bill of rights that suits the people of this country best! But of course we the people wont have to trouble ourselves by doing all that difficult thinking...and pens can be ever so heavy sometimes. But isnt it awfully nice of of our elected (sure why not) officials to do all that hard work for us. All that hard work and all those tough decisions they have to make on what can and cant be considered basic human rights. But thankfully, those wonderful companies and conglomerates that are wonderful enough to provide us with all our luxuries, our food, our water, our health, our homes, etc. Clearly they must know whats best for us. Of course these companies have our best interests at heart...after all, money is just a means of getting the things we need, surely? So naturally, theyll give the elected *cough* officials a wee push in the right direction. Have I made my point absurdly clear enough? We are at a tipping point. The definitions of what are BASIC.HUMAN.RIGHTS (I cannot labour that point enough) BASIC.HUMAN.RIGHTS are being decided by profit organisations. NOT by the people...the humans of this country. this is something that MUST not be brushed off as a nutty conspiracy theory. this CANNOT be ignored. Please, look into this. You should be worried. You need to be worried. Because im terrified.
