Its stupidly important to practice what you preach. Ive always - TopicsExpress

Its stupidly important to practice what you preach. Ive always tried to live/preach something Benjamin Franklin said, It is the first responsibility of every citizen to question authority. As most of you know Im a die hard Libertarian and Ron Paul is our most visible, experienced and quite likely wisest public figure -- from our ideological stand point. But he is against intervention in the Ukraine/Crimea area. So I sent him this letter... Dear Mr. Paul, This recent crisis in the Ukraine has brought out many of the war drums in Washington. However, I think it also brings up an ideological dilemma for us as libertarians. The logic behind non-interventionist/world police policies is rock solid but where do we draw the line? The Axis powers of World War II showed us the dramatic error of our relative isolationist practices. Yet Iraq, Vietnam and the Bay of Pigs speak volumes about the necessity of keeping to ourselves. The moment when military action is warranted seems to be just as obscure as it is vital to know. I ask only for some form of logical framework--when would you say the point of action is? Sincerely, John A. Young Its an oversimplification of course but I wanted to get my question across in the least amount of text. Is there such a thing as just war? I believe in the Libertarian ideals whole heartedly -- but if we never question those who lead us, we never learn anything and we will never grow as a people. This is me trying to practice what I preach...
