It’s that time of year again—election season! It smells like hot dogs, baseball bats and our ability to exercise our basic rights as a citizen. It makes me feel warm and fuzzy. There’s a lot at stake (I know, you hear that every election, but it really is true this year). Voters across the country will be deciding whether to kick out some awful anti-worker governors, like Scott Walker in Wisconsin and Rick Scott in Florida, as well as whether Mitch McConnell and his extremist friends, who’ve voted against raising wages for millions of workers and extending a lifeline to unemployed workers and their families, will take control of the Senate. That’s why we’re reaching out to you to help us make sure your family and friends are registered to vote this year. Can you share our online voter and information tool with five or more of your friends now? You’re the kind of person who votes—so you know how important it is to make sure other working folks get to the polls. We have to be the ones who help them see how important it is, especially because the only way to change how Washington works is to change the politicians who aren’t fighting for us. It doesn’t help that extremist politicians have passed laws in multiple states to cut early voting, same day registration and other things to make it easier for working people to vote. That’s why we’re making it as easy as we can for anyone to vote this year. We’ve teamed up with the good folks at TurboVote to give working families everything they need to be set to vote. With a few quick steps, a person can get registered or update his or her registration, get info on how to get an absentee ballot and vote by mail and find his or her polling place. Your friends and family also can sign up for reminders about important election updates. It really is easy to use. Voter registration deadlines are fast approaching in a lot of states, so make sure your family and friends are ready to vote today.
