It’s very moving to read all of the stories you guys have posted. I was never really a student of Mrs. Nau’s, as I only had her for choir one year in early junior high before I started playing volleyball, however it seems she has always been around somewhere. She was there during junior high, she was there during my high school years, and she was even a sub for some of my childrens classes in high school. When I started looking for a Church home a I found a wonderful Pastor and joined his Church. One Sunday I looked up and I saw it. Could it be? Yes! It was. The fro! I was one happy lady. Not only had I found a Pastor I could talk to without walking into a closet with a partition and people that treated me like family, I was going to get to hear Ms. Nau sing! Yes indeed I felt blessed. It was always a joy to her her up in the loft, and I remember a solo of Silent Night one Christmas that gave me goose bumps. I always had to fight the urge to stand up and cheer. During the seasons of Advent and Lent, I turned into a stalker. I would instruct my kids to wait and see where Mrs. Nau is going to sit, and go to the pew in front of her. During those services, I never sang, I just listened. A friend asked me if I sang in the choir at Church. My response was pppffftttt no way, those people can SING, he said well you can sing! (I really can’t) It’s one thing to wail in the pew, but it’s something totally different to stand in the loft with those people. I would like to challenge my Holy Cross family to share their stories. I’m sure y’all have some. God’s peace to you Mrs. Nau!
