Ive always had a deep bond with the story of Noah and the Ark. Ive - TopicsExpress

Ive always had a deep bond with the story of Noah and the Ark. Ive an early American depiction of the animals entering the ark on the wall above my pillows, and tossing myself into bed at night, I often think of salvation and inclusiveness, if you care to know the truth. I think of Noahs heart as an ark, and so the twists and turns of the story line in the film (Noah, starring Russel Crowe, Jennifer Connolly and Emma Watson) were not as repugnant to me as they were to some. There were, of course, some absurdities; the Watchers, rocky versions of Tolkiens Ents chief among them. The film regrettably tucked Noah inside Peter Jacksons shadow, but there were also a few things that I liked. Emma Watson and Jennifer Connolly both created memorable and powerful characters. And Crowes facial expressions depicted Noahs wrestle with religious fanaticism in some shocking scenes that open an inner commitment to tenderness that he fights to overcome throughout the movie and, thank God, he doesnt win. But its time for special effects to begin to take a seat in the back of the bus and let colorful characters ride up front. I should have come from this movie with human beings and salvation on my mind, but its been a struggle. Instead my ind is coming up with jokes about stoned-out Transformer movies. Too bad.
