Ive always wondered why ordinary people dont run for public - TopicsExpress

Ive always wondered why ordinary people dont run for public office. The founders made it very clear what the qualifications are, and they are very simple, but when was the last time you saw a machinist from industry run, or a housewife, or a low level health care worker, or a retired regular guy or gal who just wants to make a difference. The last truck driver I know that ran for office was Governor Harold Hughes, who became a United States Senator. He was not very effective, but he ran and won. The reason these qualified people listed above dont run is dollars. Most races will cost $50 million dollars, and some high profile candidates will spend over $150 million dollars to serve in an office that pays $200,000.00 per year. It just doesnt calculate, does it? They run because there is power in the Congress, and if you know anything about politics, power equals money and more money. Whether you are Republican or Democrat, you should be concerned about what goes on in Washington, D. C. that not only affects us, but people worldwide. This election cycle, it is what it is. We have a choice between Braley, who has done absolutely nothing but vote in Obamacare, raising the federal debt limit, and taking $780 million dollars from Medicare, and other stuff too long to mention. Our choice should be Joni Ernst. I believe her to be honest, a veteran, and a mother who has not been tainted by the politics within the beltway. Tuesday, its our turn. Please vote for Joni Ernst for Iowa Senator, and Rod Blum for First District Congressman from Iowa. This could be our last chance to turn the government back into what the founders percieved. Thanks, and well see you at the polls.
