Ive been so very busy this past fortnight, I callously deferred paying tribute to the late Mr. Terry Cassim , founder and managing director of Metropolitan Book Suppliers of Capital Plaza, Frederick St. who passed away on October 25th. Mr. Cassim I met for the first time when I was in my late teens , dreevaying all over town. I would ALWAYS pop into Metropolitan because they had back issue English car magazines which I collected....I think I bought an entire series of the rare MG Owners Club mag there for less than the price of two Carib. Anyhow, if there was a rare book that a collector needed and could find nowhere else , Mr. Cassim would source it. He was like Amazon and Ebay LONG before the internet. Always a gentleman , I was most touched and delighted when he asked me to distribute copies of my first publication , me now infamous cemetery book, through Metropolitan. His passion for books was passed on to his son and my friend Brett who often chides me for my tardiness in not writing and producing more :) . Mr. Terry Cassim will be deeply missed, not only by bibliophiles , but by all who came into contact with him. May he find peace amongst his ancestors. Goodbye Mr. C. we are better for having known ye.
