Ive installed the Windows 10 beta, and have been playing around - TopicsExpress

Ive installed the Windows 10 beta, and have been playing around with it. I started by installing it on a 40GB partition. Installation was simple, without any problems, and took about 20-30 minutes in all. When it restarted, it automatically detected my Windows 7 installation, and created a boot launcher allowing for the option to choose either for startup. Ive been using it for a few hours now, and so far, I have to say Im quite pleased. The Start menu is a welcome friend to see again, and with the tiles I can have instant at-a-glance news, weather, and access to all of my most used apps right there. Getting apps is easy via the app store, and installation is literally one click of an install button, and thats it. The store has thousands of apps, many of them free, and I threw a few on to play around with them. Settings and control panel options are easily accessed via the settings button in the start menu, and there is no charms bar. In fact, its all quite intuitive. Still, what Im most impressed with is the speed. Windows 10 is wicked fast, it boots in about 15 seconds (once I chose which OS I wanted to boot), and everything loads up with a snap, even on my 5 year old hardware. Im going to keep playing around, but so far, color me impressed, and this is only the beta! The only downside is Cortana hasnt made her appearance yet, though I expect that will be in a later release update. Ive added a few screenshots below if you want to see what it looks like with a little customization. The first one is my current setup, while the second one (the space shuttle) is what Windows 10 looked like a few minutes after I started up for the first time (I added the wallpaper).
