Greece invaded in 332bc and enslaved the populace. 63bc it was freed by the Romans and thrived. Syria Palæstina was a Roman province between 63bc and about 390. It was established by the merge of Roman Syria and Roman Judaea, following the defeat of the Jewish Bar Kokhba Revolt in 135. Ad 637, Arabs took over. 1099 the Christians seized it amongst a bloody slaughter and genocide, as usual. 1516 it was owned by Turkey. 1922 it was under British administrative control. 1948 Britain gave it to the Jews.
