Ive known in my heart for some time now that Catie would not be - TopicsExpress

Ive known in my heart for some time now that Catie would not be coming back to us. Thats a hard confession to make to myself and to our friends but, doing what I do, Ive known that. These past three days Ive known that something needed to come from her death. Something positive had to come from this and it needed to endure. Because Catie cant be here anymore. She cant give the things she wanted to give to the world. I knew when it struck it would be right and this is right. So please read through and please help. Catie was a passionate woman, she was bright, she was articulate, and she had problems. She struggled as a woman and as a mother... and thats okay. Its okay to struggle and its okay to talk about Caties struggles. Catie was a feminist and if she had nothing left to offer shed offer the shirt off her back. When I was 19 years old and felt I had nowhere to go, Catie let me sleep in her bed for two months. I have seen mothers in this province struggle day in and day out with food security. You cannot imagine a mothers pain not knowing how she will provide her childs next meal... and going without hers so she can. I know if Catie was still here the rage and passion shed have felt as we discussed the situations of women Ive met. I know shed have wanted to help. So because she cant, Im asking you to help. My friends, Caties friends, and anyone who has followed her story these past months. I want you to go to your local grocery store and purchase a gift card. It doesnt matter how much, Catie would tell you that anything you can do for someone else is enough. I want you to take that card, yourself, in person to a local womens shelter (Bryony and Adsum in HRM), and hand it to them. Tell them that Catie sent you. I dont want you to do this once. I want you to do this every year, because thats how Catie gets to live on and make a difference to women and children in this world. With you making a difference in her name every single year, and when this comes to an end, 30, 40, 50 years from now, we can say that Catie Miller made a difference in this world. Please share this to your own timelines to reach as many people as possible.
