Ive long since repented of following the teachings of John MacArthur and James White (I used to read and listen to both of them on a daily basis back in the 1990s) back when I was a fundamentalist, and this is but one of the reasons why. This kind of advice to parents of children who come out as LGBT VERY easily can and has turned violent too many times to count. Also, a trigger warning about the video at the bottom of the article. Its of a young man coming out to his parents and it going VERY badly. I cant watch it myself because of the effect it would have on me, so I recommend my friends who have been scarred by this kind of behavior skip the video and just read Bens piece. I hope and pray John MacArthur repents of this and realizes that he has blood on his hands because of this dangerous advice. He will have to answer to God for this.
