Ive started working with a 50-year-old client that had gastric bypass surgery about a year ago. We met yesterday and got some measurements. After estimating her current percent body fat we generated a goal weight that was 30 pounds heavier than her doctor had set as a goal. Turns out the doctors goal weight would have put my client at 16% body fat! Most women at 16% BF are either onstage or getting paid a lot of money to do something with a ball. A VERY good percent body fat for my client would be 25%. Moral(s) of the story: body composition matters much more than scale weight AND shame on this doctor for not knowing better!
