Ive taken the chip (no limits tuning) off my 2013 Ranger to do a comparison since Ive had it on for over a year, about 45,000kms done with chip. The fuel economy is basically the same, only 0.5L/ 100kms difference when towing (car and trailer approx 3.2tonne) 10-10.5L/100kms or without 8-8.5L/100kms. The main difference is it has faster acceleration down low and up high with the chip, and pulls up hills a little easier, but feels nicer and smoother to drive without it in my opinion. The chip used to make it stall when it was cold a couple times a week, but no other noticeable problems.
