I’m often asked, ‘If Alaska is energy rich then why do we pay so much for the energy we consume?’ Alaskans desperately need relief from the extraordinary energy prices many have to pay just to keep the lights on and stay warm,” Isaacson, the Co-Chair of the House Special Committee on Energy, said. “The intent of this workshop is to inform the Legislature, utilities, Regulatory Commission, independent power producers, and the public on what steps we can immediately take to lower our utility costs by structural and regulatory changes. Further, this workshop will help define the next steps as well as long-term solutions we must work towards in order to provide affordable energy to all Alaskans.
