JCTR Calls Indaba to Arrest Kwacha Free-Fall The Jesuit Centre for Theological Reflection has called for a consultative meeting to probe the real reasons behind the depreciation of the kwacha. JCTR Executive Director Father Leonard Chiti said that government seemed to be only treating the symptoms and not the cause of the depreciation of the kwacha. The Zambian currency has been in free fall hitting a record K7, 000 to one dollar with no real signs of stabilizing. Fr Chiti said there was need to find a more credible solution to the turbulence that has hit the kwacha. “There is need for government to convene a stakeholders meeting to address the continued depreciation of the kwacha.
