JD(S) to consult Left parties before identifying nominees for LS polls. President of the Janata Dal (Secular) H.D. Deve Gowda said here on Wednesday that the party will try to identify candidates for the Lok Sabha elections by the end of the next month. Addressing presspersons, the former Prime Minister said that it was to avoid confusions at the last minute. He said that as the Left parties were the natural allies of the Janata Dal (Secular), they would be consulted before fielding candidates. There was no question of aligning either with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) or the Congress, he said. Mr. Deve Gowda said that his priority now was to strengthen the party and not forming a “third front” at the national level. His aim was to make the party return to power five years from now. He said that in the first phase of his tour with A. Krishnappa, president, State unit of the party, he was covering Chikmagalur, Udupi, Dakshina Kannada and Belgaum districts. The second leg will cover Bijapur, Bagalkot, Dharwad, Gadag, Haveri and Davangere districts. In the third phase, they would tour Bidar, Gulbarga, Yadgir, Raichur, Koppal, Bellary and Chitradurga. The former president of the State unit H.D. Kumaraswamy would tour the old Mysore districts. Krishnappa confident President of the State unit of the Janata Dal (Secular) A. Krishnappa has exuded the confidence that the party will be able to win at least 15 seats in the Lok Sabha elections. Addressing presspersons here on Wednesday, Mr. Krishnappa said that the party had a greater role to play in the Parliamentary elections.
