JOIN TEAM SHIRA ...AND HELP US TRANSPORT K9 SOLDIER TO HER FOREVER HOME SHIRA, a 4-year old female Dutch Shepherd, served multiple tours of duty in Afghanistan as a tactical explosives detector soldier. This beautiful K9 Soldier injured her leg during advanced training at the U.S. Army base in Fort Belvoir, VA. SHIRA was brought to NYC by Tails of Hope Foundation/Finding One Another - for expert medical evaluation and treatment - at the request of a military dog handler at the Army base. • Ground transportation from the Army base to NYC was donated by the Graham family of CT. • The Animal Medical Center in NYC donated the expertise of veterinary specialists who performed advanced diagnostic tests - including MRIs of both her knee and hip, and an orthopedic surgeon was on standby if surgery was necessary. SHIRA was diagnosed with hip dysplasia and for now, aggressive medical management is the recommended approach. If needed, SHIRA will be brought back to NYC and The Animal Medical Center will donate total hip replacement surgery. • SHIRA is newly-retired from the U.S. Army due to her injuries and is being adopted by an active duty family at Camp Ripley in Minnesota. • SHIRA will serve as an Ambassador for Military Working Dogs helping us secure national passage of K9 Veterans Day of Observance. JOIN TEAM SHIRA by donating toward her transportation to her forever home in Minnesota and for ongoing medical care. Please click her https://findingoneanother.org/donations/
