Janet, I hope your summer is going well! For me it has been a long month of decisions, but I would like to share some exciting news with you... I will be attending The George Washington University in the fall! I have been in contact with Nancy Evans about transferring my interior design courses from AACC. However, my adviser at GW told me that I should be able to complete in two years and graduate in the Spring of 2015, which was my goal. With my acceptance to the university, I was also given the Board of Trustees Scholarship for $30,000 and the University and Alumni Scholarship for $5,000! The day I was accepted I posted this picture on facebook of my son making the announcement: Since I have posted this photo, I have had four different people tell me that I have inspired them to go back to school or to take that leap to the next level that they were too afraid to take before. I could not have taken that leap myself without your support. I would like to thank you so much for writing letters of recommendation for me and for helping to guide me through my time at AACC. During my time as your student, I learned so much invaluable information and wonderful techniques. I have gained insightful experiences that will provide me with lots of success in my future at George Washington University, as well as in my future career. Thank you for being more than a professor to students like me and going above and beyond, for getting to know me, and providing me with feedback and advice. While it is exciting to go on to a new school to complete my bachelors, it is also sad to leave behind such a wonderful department with the most amazing educators. I will miss my fellow students, the ASID student chapter, and the great professors that led me to this point, but I will embrace my time at GW with all of the lessons you all have taught me. Thank you so much, Marisa Palmer
