January - Our annual meeting will be held on Saturday, January 3rd, at 10:00 am. at St. Marys Orthodox Cathedral Parish Center, 17th and 5th Street Northeast. We could use some new ideas please come and share your thoughts. We were thinking of skipping the Festival of Nations this year, but the topic is Art and Ethnicity. This is a great opportunity to show case our most famous artist - Andy Warhol. So to prepare for this event our annual meeting will include a presentation on Andy Warhol. If you volunteer at the festival or would like to please come and get a sneak peak of our ideas. February - Duchnovich Day Lecture and Dinner, Saturday, February 7th, St Marys Orthodox Cathedral Parish Center. The meal will be a traditional Rusin meal of Holupci, Pirohi etc. Our speaker will be Professor Elena Boudovskaia (Georgetown University). She will discuss folk beliefs and traditions in daily life among Carpatho-Rusins in Subcarpathian Rus (Zakarpattia/Transcarpathia in Ukraine) as she observed and studied during several recent linguistic and ethnographic field work trips.
