Mr. Deepak Chopra, President & CEO of Canada Post Corporation: You are destroying the POST, a culture cherished by CANADIANS over the centuries. You refused to disclose your bonus to the HOUSE Committee. Your refusal implies that you have something to hide, not only about your bonus, but also about your expenses -- from first class airline tickets and luxury hotels, to meals, beverages, and transportation. A Public Inquiry should be conducted by the Committee to investigate these. Here is a glimpse of where a portion of yours and your twenty two VPs’, including Doug Jones’s, and tens of Directors’, including Sal Plastina’s lucrative bonuses accumulate: Workers perform additional work each week without pay. Your team condensed workers’ workload without additional time. If they complain, your team punish them. Unpaid wages increase your bonuses. You refuse to repair or replace hundreds of faulty equipment. Your negligence caused me injury twice. You and your team neglect our health and safety to decrease the cost and increase your bonuses. With your well-paid bonuses and expenses, hundreds of workers could work in better conditions, have jobs and provide food and clothes for their families. Workers are wrongfully dismissed because of the complaints they made about the misconduct of your bullying, lying and lawbreaking management and the working conditions. I am one of them. You refused to conduct an independent and complete investigation, because it would have disclosed your ‘invented and carried out’ tricks to punish and dismiss workers, including me. Workers cannot afford to visit dentists, purchase medication or obtain vision care for themselves or their children, because you fired them. Many of these workers are single moms and dads and are the only breadwinner in their families. Many children could not share the joy of receiving gifts from their moms and dads, or celebrate their birthdays with nice gifts, or have new clothes this New Year, because you took away their parents’ income. The gifts you all gave to your families are contributions from the moms and dads whom you unfairly put out of jobs. The gifts you all gave to your children are contributions from the children of those single moms and dads whose income you pocketed as bonuses. Many children could not have peanut butter with their toast, could not have milk with their cereal, so you and your family could enjoy multi-course meal. The meals you, your VPs, Directors and Managers have with your families are from our dinner table. You took the bread and butter away from hundreds of families and their children, because you ‘want to be living fuller lives.’ You took the bread and butter away from hundreds of families and their kids to increase your bonuses, and still plan to do more damage to the lives of eight thousand hard working moms and dads and thousands of innocent kids.
