January 20th, 1982, Randy Rhoads and the Ozzy Osbourne Band are in Des Moines, Iowa. That evenings performance at the Veterans Auditorium would go on to become a defining moment in Ozzy folklore! That night there was an unusually uplifting mood. Ozzy was in fine form as he donned just about anything that was thrown onstage during the show. Halfway through the show is when the famous bat biting incident occurs with Ozzy biting the head off of a live bat! After the show the band waits in the tour bus in front of the hospital while Ozzy is checked for rabies.
