January 25 Song: God Will Make A Way Artist: Don Moen Music Link: youtube/watch?v=1zo3fJYtS-o As I was reading the verse for today the last line really spoke to me. When we face trouble, heartache, health issues or the loss of a loved one we turn in prayer and despair looking for God to lift us up and dust us off so we can go on. Then I reminded that Jesus life was full of heartache and trials. Jesus himself wept and prayed desperate prayers asking that God to take away his pain and suffering. The last line of the verse today says keep heart, God is faithful and he will protect us. We should be like Jesus! He knew every detail of the price he was going to have to pay to save us. God knew the suffering his son would endure. But Jesus also knew that he would rise again and be resurrected to an eternal home and to eternal victory. We have the same assurance as we look at the last line. God is our shield and our rampart as we continue to fight the good fight and trust God with the details. Heartache is real! Friday the police were called to my cousin’s house in Rome, Ga. She and her husband had both been killed. The unbeliever simply does not understand how in such situations we are comforted. The unbeliever says; “where was that shield and that rampart?” As professing Christians we simply know what it means to say that we have fought the good fight and that we have the final victory. Little is known at this time, but I know that my family members rest in the shadow of the Almighty while the family struggles with the pain and heartache of the situation. God will make a way as surely as he has made a way home for these two beloved family members! Verse of the Day: Psalm 91:1-4 1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust. 3 Surely he will save you from the fowlers snare and from the deadly pestilence. 4 He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
