Jeremiah 12:1 – “Righteous are You, O LORD, when I plead with - TopicsExpress

Jeremiah 12:1 – “Righteous are You, O LORD, when I plead with You;Yet let me talk with You about Your judgments. Why does the way of the wicked prosper? Why are those happy who deal so treacherously?” Jeremiah raises an interesting question, as other biblical writers and many people today wonder about day in and day out – Why do “evil” people seem to have success and prosperity in their lives? We wonder why that if God is “just”, it would seem that He should not “let” these types of situations continue. The fact of the matter is that God is in charge, and not us, it would be useless to suppose that any “case” we bring against Him will prove Him “unjust”. Who are we to say otherwise? A good possibility maybe that God blesses those that oppose Him so that they might come to realize the source of all the good things in their lives. In awakening to the source of their blessings, they might repent of their rebellion. 2 Peter 3:9 states – “The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that ANY should perish but that ALL should come to repentance.” Though many will refuse to acknowledge this fact and accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, and willfully continue to take the credit that God deserves, we still need to keep the wicked “seemingly” successful and prosperous people in our prays and hope that they may turn to God. We say “seemingly” because life is brief, and before they know it, life will be over and eternity is where they are headed, and without Christ, it will not be very successful and prosperous. May God bless you and stay on fire for Christ!
