Job 23:10 "But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold." There are some interesting qualities of gold which are equivalent to the character of believers who have been through the fire. It is dense with a bright, attractive color. It is maintained without tarnishing in air or water (we are preserved through the trials of life). It is highly malleable (easily shaped) by being hit with a hammer (the Word of God). It lacks toxicity (the degree to which a substance can damage an organism), resistible to corrosion (effects of sin) and a good conductor of heat and electricity (the presence of God). It is the most noble of the noble metals. The Latin name for gold is aurum, which according to some sources means "shining dawn" (Jesus is the Dawn and we shine His radiance). Gold can also be beaten to the point of transparency (we are living epistles known and read of all men). All information can be traced back to Wikipedia (not the greatest source, but accurate enough as a starting point).
