Join the Catholic Healthcare Guild for an evening lecture and dialogue with Dr. John Haas, President of the National Catholic Bioethics Center. Ethics CME for physicians and CNE for nurses will be available. The Guild will gather at St. John Neumann Catholic Church in the Morris Hall at 6:30pm on Tuesday, July 8 for social time and refreshments followed by the lecture and dialogue at 7pm. All those working in health care that share Catholic values are invited to this session, focused on Catholic health care ethics in the context of dilemmas arising from the emergence of new technologies and treatments. Entitled “The Face of the New Eugenics”, the presentation will focus on In Vitro fertilization practices that drive decision-making around selection of the “perfect baby”, conflicts among stakeholders regarding disposition of embryos, and how Insurance Companies and Governmental agencies could use genetic information to make decisions about excluding coverage for “defective” babies and their mothers.
