July 28 Let My love seep into the inner recesses of your being. Do not close off any part of yourself from Me....Wounds that you shut away from the Light of My Love will fester and become wormy. Secret sins that you hide from Me can split off and develop lives of their own... If our child or grandchild fell and got a bloody, dirty scrape filled with gravel or broken glass, we would never say, You will be okay. It will stop bleeding eventually. Rub some more dirt on it. Crying wont help, so be quiet. It cannot possibly hurt that much. Then, a week later, we would have a real problem with an infected, wound filled with pus and pain. Instead, we carefully clean out all the debris, apply pressure to stop the blood from flowing, dab on some antibiotic cream, and place an appropriate bandage on the would to protect it from harmful germs. All the while we are murmuring sweet words of comfort, holding them securely, giving them hugs, and wiping their tears. We might even let them eat a Popsicle in the living room for being so brave! We would not stop with that, though. We would keep a close eye on the wound, continue to apply fresh bandages, not let them scrape off the scab which would reopen the wound and possibly cause other problems. We would just give the wound time to heal hoping that the skin doesnt scar too much. Cant you just picture our Heavenly Father doing the same for us when we have a wound or a deep hurt? He doesnt want us to let it fester. He is the Great Physician. He can heal physical wounds as well as broken spirits and shattered hearts as His unfailing love and his incomprehensible peace soak deeply into our wounds. His gentle voice calms our fears, and His tender touch wipes away each tear. Dear Father, help us expose our hurts and our cuts and scrapes to you so they dont fester and become poison in our souls. Cleanse them, apply your healing salve, and bandage them up so that, with time, we are whole again with only scars to remind us of the pain, but also of your faithfulness.
